Who Is Moiz Khan?
People often try to escape labels, I don’t. I am a(n) Atheist, Artist, Feminist, Free Thinker, Historian, Marxist, Philosopher, Leftist, Socialist, Web Designer and Writer. I often find myself in constant opposition to the commonly held beliefs. I quick glance over my "labels" will show you exactly what I mean. My positions are usually beliefs that are defined by their opposition to another belief. This is of course not intentional, I didn't plan to become a contrarian, it is just who I am. My own opinion is good enough for me, and if you can't handle that, that's too bad. I don't believe in the "respectful" approach, and so, some of my words are bound to be offensive. However, I am not attempting to be offensive, it is merely the nature of purely open discourse. To read me elaborate my thoughts, go to my blog.
With that settled, let’s get into other stuff. I am 18 years old and I just graduated from Longwood Senior High School. I design websites professionally and do all sorts of other design...ranging from print design, web design, concept design, logo design and more. If you want to check out my design work, go to my portfolio. I also work at the Target thats next to my house. I am currently enrolled for the fall 2008 semester at Stony Brook University. I will double major in History and Philosophy with a minor in Religious Studies. I plan to attend some sort of graduate school, just not exactly sure whether it will be Law School or graduate school for history/philosophy.
If you made it this far, keep going! I love philosophy, history, literature, music, art, comedy, and style. I love debating, its really fun and I win very often. Even if I argue complete nonsense, I can think of a very convincing case for it. I love knowledge and my brain...the only thing that is precious in this world is your intellect...one should mantain and cultivate it constantly. So I don't "dumb" myself down for anyone or anything. I don't watch TV that much..but I do watch some shows such as, One Tree Hill, The Office, House, The Colbert Report and The Daily Show. As I previously said, I love music...I feel it is great form of expression and probably couldn't live without it. I love all genre's, but my favorite is progressive rock. For a full list of what I to, go to my last.fm.
I don't really idolize anyone, but I deeply admire quite a few intellectuals for their contribution to my knowledge. Among those who I admire are, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Karl Marx, George Orwell, Stephen Hawkings, Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Socrates and Henry David Thoreau. I read a lot of books, and its probably my favorite thing to do beside listening to music, (I usually do both at the same time). I always try to read books that challenge me to think, and allow my mind to expand, as that is my goal in life.
