Today is a momentous occasion with regards to the internet and web browsing. The Firefox programming tam have designated this day, as “Download Day, 2008.” Those wasting their time browsing with Internet Explorer truly are missing out on a web experience. Web browsing, since the emergence of the Mozilla Firefox Browser has been entirely different. Mozilla has revolutionized the browser market, and become the essential browser for all developers and those who want to browse the internet with more security and stability.
The customizable aspect of Firefox is where it truly launches off and becomes something worthy of praise. Currently, I have a few add-ons that without them, the entire browsing experience is no where near as good.
Adblock Plus - Blocks all advertisements and made the websites with ads much better. Essentially eliminates eyesores and gets the user right to the content.
Faviconize Tab - Right click a tab, tell it to “Faviconize” and it will reduce its tab size to only the amount needed to display a favicon. For users who have a few tabs open at a time, this is a great thing.
Forecast Fox - Get the latest weather information for your local area as well as a couple days in advance. Warns you when there are severe weather threats for your local area which came in handy.
Greasemonkey - Lets you add scripts to websites which allow you to customize a website to exactly how you want it to be.
PDF Download - I got tired of accidentally clicking on a PDF file and then freezing up my browser while it loaded. Now, right after I click a PDF file, it prompts me and asks me what I want to do with it, which is infinitely better.
Web Developer - This is the greatest add-on for any web developer. No short description is needed, anyone who creates and fixes stuff made for the web will need this.
Besides just the add-ons, which are indeed a large aspect, the stability of Firefox is second to none. It hardly ever crashes on me, and when it does, it is largely due to computer issues on my side rather than actual browser programming. The new features of Firefox 3.0 increase the stability of Firefox as well as the usablity. With the new and updated address bar, Firefox’s ease of use is really highlighted. With one click you can bookmark a tab, and with another you can add tags to it as well as organize it. Another feature is the “searchable history,” instead just allowing you to enter your websites url, now you can enter words that are featured in its title as well as the tags you added to it. You can click the favicon to immediately read the security information associated with the website. Another new feature is the updated download manager, which becomes amazingly useful if you download multiple files and need to search through the entire list. Those are just a minimal amount updated features, there are tons of other ones that have been added. So in accordance with the motto of their website; lets Spread Firefox.
Update: Thanks to a commentor, I have edited the Adblock section. Much thanks to Ares.
Just posting to announce the latest blog design. Once the newest version of Wordpress was released, it became immediately evident that I needed a blog design that would fully employ the latest features of Wordpress, and this is it. What do you think of it? Do you think it could be better? Let me know!
Four years ago, I was about 3 inches shorter and maybe 30 pounds lighter. My writing style was non-existent, and so was my work ethic. Freshman year of High School had just begun, and I was 14 years of age. Though I indeed was Moiz Khan, one could simply not consider the 2004 version of myself comparable to the current, 2008 version. An essential aspect of life is progress, and certainly, over the last four years, there has indeed been a great deal of progress. They say, when one part of your life ends, another begins (unless you die), and this is certainly the case.
I have finally finished my High School education, and it really feels like a whole portion of my life is over. From Kindergarten to Senior Year of school, there really wasn’t much of a difference. One could quite easily know what to expect as it would be largely the same people from the last year. The teachers would often assume a dual role of baby sitter and instructor, and a great percentage of the time would be wasted on trivial matters. As students, and also minors, we were given no freedom or respect from any elder, and though this was a necessary condition for the majority of my classmates, it certainly wasn’t for me. This resulted in a sizable portion of my time utterly wasted.
The previous thirteen years, and more importantly the previous four years thus could be considered one chapter in the book of life. It is indeed the preparation for the real world, but that is all. It is nothing more than a general rather vague period of time that does almost nothing to further knowledge. Real experiences aren’t experienced and life is entirely sheltered. But it all changes now, and it is due time. This is the beginning of the second chapter, the chapter that really begins the story, not just provide a mundane introduction.
It has come to my attention from being an avid user of both, YouTube and DailyKos, that John McCain and his campaign staff are beginning to move any videos of McCain that have been edited with a humorous touch. The video in question is currently still available at this link:
It is extremely likely that it won’t be available for long. McCain’s staff has been bringing about the “copyright infringement” argument to Google to take down the videos in question. I submit myself to the fairness of my readers when I ask the following question; Has Obama, or his staff ever attempted anything of the sort? Do you honestly think they would? The obvious answer is no, Obama’s commitment to protect the rights and freedoms of the people has stayed true throughout his campaign, as his internet campaign has been something truly praiseworthy. McCain wanted to commit to a new form of politics, one without any sort of “gestapo” tactics, and it seems with small actions like this, that John McCain is simply not a man of his word.
Is this the best the Republicans can do? Send a third rate candidate who doesn’t even have the integrity to keep his word? I suppose at least McCain is better than the half-wit, George W. Bush.
Since my previous blog about this issue, much has changed. Hilary up to that point was the leading candidate, and was the presumptive nominee, everyone had assumed it as a fact of life. Then the people began to vote and Obama’s campaign completely and utterly crushed Clinton’s. Obama’s campaign did this without underhanded politics, heavy corruption, lies or fear tactics. They did it despite Obama’s crazy pastor who is an absolute lunatic, and the lies spread by the Clinton campaign and major media. This is something praiseworthy, this is point in time that true Americans can be proud of.
Yes, Obama isn’t the perfect candidate, but when will there be a perfect candidate? The concept of a “lesser evil” is a horrible basis for choosing the next leader, but in this case, Obama is not really an “evil.” His level of transparency and truth throughout his run for the nomination has been unprecedented from a realistic potential nominee. There is hardly an argument against Obama that doesn’t start without ad-hominem attacks on him or those who are related to him in some way. The argument against Obama thus becomes less about Obama and more about policy. This is a considerable shift in the political discourse of Modern America. He may not be perfect, but to consider Obama an “evil” is delusional and on a level of stupidity that is unmatched. It is thus the situation, that Obama will be the first candidate in an extremely long time, that no major compromises will be needed to support him.
The previous blog on the Democratic Primaries was titled, “Vote for Change, Vote against Hilary.” It is with great joy that the next blog that discusses the Presidential Elections will be titled, “Vote for Change, Vote for Obama.”
